As I prepare to write a post concerning Western civilization, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or previous post and might interest you further.


Constitutionalism - Louis XIV

(early - mid 17th century Europe)

  • What was good about the ideas of constitutionalism that would be useful if transferred to today's way of thought?

  • What was Thomas Hobbs (the originator of absolutism) wrong about? What could he have been right about had he not been so set in his ways?

  • What is Mercantilism, why do we still see it today?

  • Was Louis XIV a good ruler in any way?
