Western Civ I Questions: Week 36

     As I prepare to write a post concerning ancient Western civilization, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or last post and might interest you further.

Centralization in Spain - The Age of Discovery


  • The conquest was a battle between Christians and Muslims. How could differences cause a feud, and how should Christians view Muslims, and vice versa today?


  • Why did others frown upon Columbus' novel idea to sale round the globe to get to the East for trade?


  • When the American civilizations were discovered, no man in that culture knew how to think for themselves. This begs many questions, what is freedom, who has it, and why is it important?


  • Many believed that Columbus would fall off the flat surface of the earth if he sailed in uncharted waters. That statement is false, yet often taught. Why is myth busting important to history and historiography?
