As I prepare to write a post concerning ancient Western civilization, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or last post and might interest you further.
Homer, The Iliad
What scholars do you agree with, regarding the controversy surrounding Mycenaean Greece?
Why and how do you think the Iliad stood the test of time?
Homer, The Odyssey
In The Odyssey, many plot points might sound familiar, why is it that so many stories have taken this format and "copy and paste" it into their own works? Why is it that this is not the case with The Iliad, which was the precursor to Homer's The Odyssey?
In todays time, no matter your religion, if you believe in a god, you view them to be all powerful, all knowing, merciful, and good. This was not the case in Greek civilization, it varied whether or not you believed this to be the case within any or all of the Gods, why was this disagreement so common within the religion? Who do you think you would agree with more, is any God, less than good, less than kind?
