As I prepare to write a post concerning ancient Western civilization, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or last post and might interest you further.
The Expansion of Rome
What is war? Why is war? What causes war to come about, and why does the human race come to war so quickly and so often throughout time? There is the question asked, did Rome expand on purpose, or were they just defending themselves and the great expansion an accident? Well, it is easy to further wonder, why would a people come to war and tyranny as a solution in the first place?
Toward the Empire
Power. Why do so many crave power? Power is addictive to an extent. Julius Caesar and Pompei were on the same side politically, they agreed, but they fought for power. So many lives lost all throughout history because of the human flaw that is arrogance and pride and ultimately the want for power. What do you think would have been a better solution to this disagreement that ended in tragedy? And why is it that people can come to crave power as much as they do?
