More Amendments; Then, a Return Normalcy - The 1920s & the Myth of Isolationism

(1909 - 1920's)


  • How has the feminist movement changed since Jeannette Rankin (first woman in Congress) would she approve of how things are today based on her actions while in Congress?


  • Most supported Wilson's war, but some argued the draft violated the 13th amendment. Even now most support drafts in the name of patriotism. Is how the draft works a violation? Can it be a good thing even so?


  • How did the draft affect soldiers coming home, particularly the racial issues in Chicago?


  • What caused the shift from defending socialism's economics to defending their moral ground? Is this defense a sufficient one?
