As I prepare to write a post concerning American history & culture, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or previous post and might interest you further.

What is the major difference between soldiers fighting in the name of patriotism during the Civil War compared to now?
Slaves and former slaves enlisted in droves fighting or true freedom and insuring the victory of the North. Did this stand affect today's American culture? Are good intentions always the right stand in times of war?
What didSecretary of War Stanton & Postmaster General Montgomery meann whenthey said the nation "was not ready" for such as step when Lincoln published his decree to free all slaves? Were they right?
The Gettysburg Adress is poetry not logic -Mark D. Ledbetter. Is there a place for this kind of literature in politics & should there be?
