As I prepare to write a post concerning American history & culture, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or previous post and might interest you further.
Abolitionism - The Political Crisis of the 1850's I
(Mid 1830's - 50's)
Were guys like Congressman Wilmot and politician William Steward good/right about slavery and the proviso?
Lysander Spooner was the first to outwardly interpret the Constitution by what was written rather then what the founders' intentions were. Is this how we should treat the Constitution & did this view make Spooner better at politics?
Was Harriet Beecher Stowe's book Uncle Tom's Cabin beneficial to ending slavery in America, or did it simply harshen the circumstances at hand?
What affect did the transcontinental railroads have on the U.S.? Are government projects like this a good thing today?
