     As I prepare to write a post concerning American history & culture, I stop to ask myself a few questions, find your personal answers if you wish, this will likely come up in my next or previous post and might interest you further.

Abolitionism - The Political Crisis of the 1850's I

(Mid 1830's - 50's)


  • Were guys like Congressman Wilmot and politician William Steward good/right about slavery and the proviso?


  • Lysander Spooner was the first to outwardly interpret the Constitution by what was written rather then what the founders' intentions were. Is this how we should treat the Constitution & did this view make Spooner better at politics?


  • Was Harriet Beecher Stowe's book Uncle Tom's Cabin beneficial to ending slavery in America, or did it simply harshen the circumstances at hand?


  • What affect did the transcontinental railroads have on the U.S.? Are government projects like this a good thing today?
